Fix redirect chains
A redirect chain is a redirect that leads to another redirect. Each hop costs visitors time and search engines crawl budget, and long chains can stop crawlers before they arrive.
Find it
- Crawl the site.
- Click Redirect chain in the issues list, then an address in the table.
- The Redirect chain tab shows each hop with its status code. The Inlinks tab shows which pages still link to the first address.
Fix it
- Change the links to point straight at the final address.
- Point old redirects directly at the final page too, so anyone with an old link takes one hop, not two.

Try it yourself
The tutorial crawls our example pages, which have this problem on purpose. Start a crawl at https://crawldude.com/examples/ in CrawlDude to follow along.
