Fix duplicate titles
When two pages share a title and meta description, search results show them the same way and people can’t tell which one they want. Search engines may pick only one of them.
Find it
- Crawl the site.
- Click Duplicate title in the issues list to see every page that shares its title with another.
- Click Duplicate meta description for the same check on descriptions. Click a page to see its title and description in the details pane.
Fix it
- Give every page a title of its own, with what makes the page different first.
- Keep titles under about 60 characters, and write a description that matches the page.
- Only indexable pages are compared, so pages that are noindexed or canonicalised elsewhere don’t count.
